About Me

Well, as you know already, my name is Sam Conroy, but what lies beneath the ceremony folder?

When I'm not writing scripts or at ceremonies sharing beautiful stories, I'm a wife, a mum and fur-parent to five wonderfully unruly animals - a small menagerie of four-legged chaos.

I live for adventures - whether here at home in Scotland or in a new country - and I'm happier while exploring new places, nose deep in a crime novel or curled up with a film and a cat (or three) on my lap.

Running has always been my thing - but recently the gym has me hooked!  Turns out I've been a secret gym girl at heart - and I love a good spin class!

Life is one big story and I collect moments like souvenirs - a sunrise run, a passport stamp, a line from a film that lingers - and really just try to live my best life!

What did I do before
I was a Celebrant?

For many years I worked in social care,

Violence Reduction mainly.

I went to university in 2009 to study Sociology and Psychology

- which took me on path of self discovery I didn't know I needed to go on.

That path led me into social care where I worked for many years

for a number of charities who supported those affected by violence,

homelessness, addictions and mental health.

I loved it!  And then COVID hit and I decided it was time for a change.

I was planning my own wedding and loved every second of it.

It was inspiring.  As a large part of my career involved public speaking,

becoming a celebrant felt like the next natural step for me -

and Sam Conroy - Celebrant was born.

UKCAPSA & The Fuze Foundation

At the start of 2023 I successfully qualified as a celebrant, beginning my journey in 2022, when I signed up for the SQA certified UKCAPSA - Celebrant and Public Speaking Diploma.  Following completion, I was successful in joining Fuze Ceremonies and the Fuze Foundation team - who conduct humanist wedding ceremonies and non-legal humanist ceremonies across Scotland.

Through the Fuze Foundation all celebrants within the team are authorised to solemnise marriages (also known as legal ceremonies) by the Registrar General Scotland, under the Marriage (Scotland) Act 1977.

I conducted my first ever legal humanist wedding ceremony at Broxmouth Courtyard, In Dunbar, that very same year and I can't begin to tell you how amazing that was!

I absolutely love being a celebrant and fee incredibly lucky to conduct ceremonies across Scotland - from historic venues, beautiful hotels and family homes to more unusual spots like the summit of Ben A'an.

Whether its a legal wedding, a vow renewal or a celebration of life, I'm always honoured to help people mark life's big moments in places that matter to them surrounded by the people they love most in the world.
